Eleven (11) signature notes from Chopin's Funeral March cascade down from the
top of thepainting, to be replaced by the sound of wailing sirens emanating from the two dogs
at the bottom, as Manhattan's skyline goes up in an atomic explosion. The destruction of New
York City is now imminent. Number 11 is symbolic of transition, excess, peril and disorder.
This number also has an infernal character since it is in excess of ten (10) - perfection.
Man wanders, head down and aimlessly, through a dying world portrayed as a
cemetery, unaware of impending destruction, often more interested in watching his dog
defecate.
